AS MY WORLD TURNS

"She Cometh in Green"

On the branches of the hardwood trees, the buds do not dare spout.

The trees, in all their nakedness, stand shamelessly about.

Where is the tactless woman, our gift from God above?

Shall the fetus of the season be aborted and unloved?

The inviting lure of longer days and nights with far less chill have so far not awakended life, but soon we know it will.

She nudges every living thing that must now start anew.

The special touch of nature's hand that all life can construe.

The trees have come to realize and trust in what they've seen.

When winter's done and turns his back, she comes to us in green.
