Hand Writing
Hand writing is something that I very seldom do. I guess it is because I find it difficult to read my own notes when I write in cursive. I read recently, that 15% of the kids that take SAT’s write in cursive and 85% use block printing. The article also said that the cursive kids scored 4% higher on essay test. I have always admired the people I know that wrote beautifully in cursive. Somehow, I always suspected they were the smart people in my circle of family and friends. I remember a manager of mine made the comment to me one day, that he noticed that I always print my communications to him. I started to apologize, but, he interrupted me and said there was nothing wrong with doing that. He thought it was an effort on my part to make sure my ideas were communicated clearly. I still think the smart people write beautiful cursive.
Aging is something we all worry about as we get older. I read in Sunday’s Parade Magazine that aging isn’t normal at all. Needless to say, I was taken aback and continued to read. According to the article: aging is a choice you make by the way you live. It is just the dry rot we program into our cells by sedentary living, junk food and stress. The other master signal to our cells is emotion. Anger, stress and loneliness are signals for starvation and chronic danger. We replace 1% of our cells every 3 months. That means that we are probably a new person, with a new liver, new kidneys and new legs by July. You choose whether they are stronger or weaker by the signals our brain sends. Those signals are determined by exercise and positive thinking. A few stem cells in each organ and your brain cells stick around for the duration. Now, I don’t know about you, but I definitely could use some new, stronger legs, new kidneys (too much coffee) and perhaps, a better back. Time for me to make some changes.

The NCAA Tourney has been really disappointing. All four of our Virginia teams are out (Old Dominion, VCU, UVA & Tech). The only ACC team left is the University of NC. I believe the championship game will feature Kansas and Ohio State, although, I am pulling for UNC to beat Ohio State.
I have spent most of the week reorganizing my workbench in our garage. This place has been an eyesore for more months than I care to remember. The work has been slow, but steady. I still haven’t figured out where everything will fit, but I have plenty of time to make it work. My uncle’s cancer is still in remission and he goes for a CTSCAN and MRI at the end of April. He is in my prayers daily. Please put him in yours if you have room. His name is KD and we all love him dearly. He will be 68 on May 7th.
Well, guess I had better close and get some work done today. Thanks for reading….
