AS MY WORLD TURNS

I Lost My Soul at Walmart

I lost my soul at Walmart

maybe in the underwear aisle.

It could have been in cosmetics

or between the Dove and the Dial.

I don’t think it was in hardware;

I’m sure I didn’t go there;

perhaps near the storage containers,

but I don’t really very much care.

I’m better off without a soul—

don’t need it to buy plastic ware.

I can watch the evening news

without bursting into tears,

listen to politicians

and resist the urge to jeer.

So for those who care too much

I highly recommend

that you go right out to Walmart.

Who knows how much you’ll spend?!?

Just leave your soul at Walmart,

you’ll be happier, you’ll see.

You can lose your soul at Walmart

and buy one, get one free.
